As part of the ACA becoming the National Governing Body (NGB) for Olympic and Paralympic paddlesports, and being recognized by the International Canoe Federation (ICF) for their non-Olympic paddlesport disciplines, the ACA, through this Committee and Council structure, augmented by the National Office Staff is committed to developing and promoting athletic competition in paddlesports at the local, regional, national, and international levels. 


Voting for Competition Council At-Large Representatives and Discipline Committee Members:


Voting is open from January 29 - February 9, 2018. 


Please click on the applicable committee link(s) below.  Since your ACA membership must be current in order to vote, you will be prompted to log in to your ACA account in order to access the voting webpage.

All Competition Council Committee positions are elected for a two-year term beginning in 2018. The election of the nominees will be determined by the majority of votes cast by electronic ballots returned to the ACA by members eligible to vote.

Competition Council Committees

(an ACA member must either compete, judge, coach or volunteer with a discipline in order to vote in that discipline's committee election)

  • Canoe Poling (vote for up to 5)
  • Canoe Polo (vote for up to 5)
  • Canoe Sailing (vote for up to 6)
  • FreeStyle Canoeing (flatwater) - no election
  • Marathon (vote for up to 12)
  • National Collegiate Paddling (vote for up to 5)
  • Ocean Racing (surfski) (vote for up to 5)
  • Paracanoe (vote for up to 5)
  • Slalom (depends upon sub-Committees)
  • Sprint (depends upon sub-Committees)
  • Whitewater Freestyle (vote for up to 7)
  • Whitewater Open Canoe Downriver (WWOCD) (vote for up to 11)
  • Whitewater Open Canoe Slalom (vote for up to 5)
  • Wildwater (vote for up to 5)

Timeline for the nomination and voting process:

  • January 4-19, 2018:  Nominations for Council Discipline Committees and At-Large members to the Council itself occur online
  • Jan. 29-Feb 9, 2018: Elections for Competition Council Discipline Committees and At-Large members occur online
  • Feb. 16-23, 2018:       Competition Council Discipline Committees elect their respective Chairs, Vice-Chairs and Secretaries
  • March 2018:      The Competition Council Board is seated and conducts election for Chair, Vice-Chair and Secretary
  • March 3-4, 2018:       ACA Board of Directors meeting - Fredericksburg, Va
  • Spring 2018:             Teleconference meeting of the new Competition Council 
  • August 25, 2018:       Competition Council meeting in conjunction with ACA Leadership Academy - Oklahoma City, OK
