On-Water Basics

Offered by ACA-certified instructors, these classes provide an excellent opportunity for skill and technique development in your paddlesport of choice. If you are interested in broadening your paddling horizons explore our Topic & Skills Tracks. On-water beginner basics classes require preregistration. (To preregister, participants must be registered for the full-weekend package.)

Your activity will be held in an outdoor setting which is subject to sun, wind, rain, insects, etc. In general, these programs are held rain or shine; although lightning and/or high winds may cause cancellation. Please plan accordingly and be prepared for anticipated conditions, as well as for an unexpected swim. For your safety and enjoyment we ask you to bring the following items:
  • Shoes which can get wet and will stay on your feet in the water
  • Swim suit/nylon shorts
  • Sun protection (hat, glasses and lotion)
  • Water bottle (1-3 quarts in plastic bottles with lids--No alcoholic beverages please!)
  • Clothing for anticipated weather conditions, including rain gear (in cool temperatures please avoid cotton!)
For Kayak Rolling, Rescue, and SUP classes especially, be prepared to get wet.

Register online or call 843-795-4386.
