To say Todd was introduced to paddling at a young age is an understatement. His father started taking him on multi day canoe trips (read, marathon overnights) in the Florida backwaters as soon as he could walk. Todd was greatly influenced by his mother’s professional teaching abilities. Throughout his youth he was exposed to a wide variety of teaching environments from traditional and outdoor classrooms to Sierra Club presentations which he assisted with. He has since embarked on trips to Central America, the Caribbean, Mexico, the Boundary Waters, the Colorado river, and many other SE US inland and coastal areas. Always open to new challenges, Todd’s experience includes open boat, kayak, surfing & Stand Up Paddling disciplines in venues from whitewater/surf to touring. Todd is a USMC veteran which is evident in his steadfast determination and drive. He has worked as a professional guide, owned and operated a paddlesports shop, represented Dagger and other manufacturers, and currently owns Bishop Boards, a manufacturer of Stand Up Paddleboards and gear. Todd is an American Canoe Association L3 Surf SUP instructor & ACA Instructor Trainer. His experiences as a US Park Ranger bring a varied perspective on safety, risk management, and outdoor recreation. Todd is a Special Olympics SUP coach and also heads up a Team River Runner chapter (paddling workshops for disabled veterans). You can find him enjoying the water with his wife and 2 children.
